REPORT ON THE 'ALUMNI MEET' ON 17.12.2017

Misrimal Navajee Munoth Jain Engineering College hosted the 19th Alumni Meet on 17th December 2017 on Sunday to take a walk down the corridors of nostalgia. A coming back to a place that shaped the trajectory of one’s own life is a priceless and unexplainable experience. Meeting old friends who travelled in different directions and sharing the life experiences with them makes this coming back an unforgettable event. The success path of any institution is determined through the coordinated efforts of the Students, the Faculty, the Staff, the Administration and the Alumni. MNMJEC has been producing philanthropic, service-oriented, academic, professional and entrepreneurial individuals for the past 24 years in the interest of the society, nation and of course the world.

The ‘honorary ambassadors’, our respected alumni, were welcomed cordially by our respective faculty team at the registration venue. The alumni meet began with the Jain Prayer Song followed by ‘Tamizh Thai Vazhthu’. Mr. J. Paramesh, Associate Professor, Department of IT, the Alumni Co-ordinator delivered the Welcome Address. On behalf of the Team Trust, Management, Faculty, Staff and Students, the alumni were welcomed back to the campus. The Alumni, the Principal, the Co-ordinator and other dignitaries lit the ‘traditional lamp’. With the Guidance and support our honorable Secretaries, Dr. Harish L Metha, Secretary: Administration and Sri. Jaswant Munoth, Secretary: Academic, the programme was conducted. They conveyed their congratulations to the alumni for achieving success in their pursuits and for having brought laurels to the institution.

Dr. C. Chandrasekar Christopher, Principal, in his address emphasized the need for alumni to participate in developmental and social welfare activities of the College and the need for them to come together to ensure that we contribute to the development of Higher Education and Social Developments in the country. He also spoke about the importance and objective of the Alumni Meet that bring together the wealth of talented and successful professionals who share their expertise and experience with their alma mater.

The alumni were invited to offer their valuable suggestions and recommendations and share their experience for the betterment of their institution. Alumni from the 2000-2004 to the latest 2013-2017 of Civil, Mechanical, EEE, ECE, CSE, IT and MBA Departments, who are well placed and serving for prestigious organizations in the private as well as Government sectors and running their own companies and industries, came on the stage and shared their views and also expressed their willingness to help the students and the institution in terms of Skills Development, Technical Training, Placement Activities and other Developmental Activities.. “It is great to come back to our campus and meet my old friends and teachers. It’s also a special feeling to meet some of the individuals who were so helpful to us who we were and who we are today”, said one of the Alumni.

Mr. Balakrishnan, Mr. Ravi Kiran Krishna and Mr. Ajay of Mechanical Engineering, Mr. Mani and Mr. Vignesh of Civil Engineering, Mr. Vishal Joshi of EEE, Mr. Prasanna of IT and Mr. Prasanna Rajagopalan of CSE emphasized the need for development of infrastructure and basic amenities by the management to be at par with the leading institutions of the country. They stressed on the freedom and autonomy for the faculty as well as the students, need for using the lab 24x7, motivating the students to register for patterns, maintenance of database of all the Alumni, willingness to invite even the former faculty members who were working in our institution during their course of study, improvement in hostel facilities and amenities, maintenance of sports and games ground facilities, importance of Entrepreneurship Development Cell, induction of Civil Services Coaching Academy, Foreign Language Learning Centres, Special attention and training for Tamil medium students especially during the first year, effectiveness and efficiency in the teaching learning process, induction of NCC etc.

The Principal answered each every query and obligation raised by the respective alumnus in-person and assured them of the valuable suggestions provided by them to be taken care of within due course of time and proper implementation at the earliest.

Nomination and selection of Alumni Association Office Bearers from each Branch were done to strengthen the Association and achieve the aims and goals. The Alumni enthusiastically participated in the cultural programmes. Vote of Thanks was rendered by Ms. A. Jeyanthi, Associate Professor, Department of CSE. The programme ended successfully with the National Anthem. The alumni enjoyed the sumptuous and delicious lunch served in our mess and also munched the memories.

Alumni Association Office Bearers interacted with our respected Principal. The event was stimulating and enjoyable and simultaneously profitable as all members shared their views, information and insights. The association is hopeful to run and successfully structure and position itself into a fully functional global platform for MNMJEC Alumni. The Meet saw the alumni retracing their memory lines by taking a stroll around the campus, their respective departments and the popular landmarks in our institution.

More than 80 alumni from various Departments participated in the day-long event. The smiles, hugs and togetherness, the campus witnessed shows that alumni meet is not just an assemblage of old students, but a wonderful coming together of people from different walks of life to reminisce the great moments that they spent with their friends in the good old days. The Meet ended with promise to meet again and everyone bid emotional farewell to each other and their beloved MNMJEC.
