The faculty of English is one of the vibrant departments of the College. The department has five fully qualified and dedicated faculty members. The department has a language laboratory catering to the communication skills of the students. Besides the academic programme, the department offers guidance to the students appearing for the BEC examination conducted by the Cambridge University. Many in-house activities, like debating, essay writing, short story writing, Spell –Bee competitions and Poster designing competitions are conducted through “Literary Club”, a club under the aegis of the department of English. Moreover, for the benefit of the staff members in general and faculty of English in specific, various programmes are conducted.
The department conducted a National Seminar on “Soft Skills” in the month of February, 2011, a 2-week AICTE sponsored programme on “Development of English Language Teaching Skill for Teachers in Engineering Colleges” in the month of May 2012, and a one-day Faculty development programme on “Teaching Listening and Speaking Skills” in the month of August 2018. Various programmes are also conducted for the enhancement of non-academic staff members of the college like “Vanga Pesalam Angilathil” etc., The department plays a vital role in moulding the young engineering minds in achieving a unique combination of soft skills and technical skills for confronting today’s competitive society.
- The department of English has two spacious and well ventilated rooms. One room is for the HoD and the other room is occupied by the faculty members.
- Two laboratories to cater to the needs of the students
The department of English has a full-fledged language laboratory to develop and enhance the learners’ macro skills ie., listening, speaking, reading and writing and to strengthen their prospects of success in taking competitive examinations. In order to train the students, GLOBRENA and ETNL softwares are used. The laboratory has:

A one day National Seminar was conducted on “Soft Skills” in the year 2011.
A one-day FDP on “Teaching Listening and Speaking Skills” was organized by the Department of English in association with the Department of English, Anna University, Chennai-25 and the Orient BlackSwan Private Limited, India Publishing House on 28th July 2018.
A funded project of Rs.1,50,000/- was sanctioned by AICTE to conduct FDP on “Development of English Language Teaching Skills for Teachers in Engineering Colleges” for two weeks in the year 2012.
